Mon Tribe, Maha Sarakham, Phra Gau,
Wat Nadoon, Tarawadee Era 9-15 century.

Made in the Tarawadee Era by the Mon tribe, this is one of the few oldest Buddhist votive tablets made in the history of Siam.

The Mon is one of the early nomadic tribes who resides in the region of Siam and they are responsible for some of the early Buddhist artwork in the history of Siam.

The nine Buddhas, Phra Gau, is portrayed in this tablet, and it is likely a section resected from a larger votive tablet. A similar votive tablet is found in the Metropolitan Museum of New York shown in the right.
