Phitsanulok Province, Phra Nang Saam,
18-19 century in the Thai Buddhist calendar.

This votive tablet was discovered in Wat Phrasri, the famous temple that housed the Chinnaraj Buddha in the modern day.

Most of the Phra Nang Saam tablets are usually resections of larger pieces of votive tablets with multiple images of the Buddha. This Phra Nang Saam is one of the rare pieces as this is not a resection but an original, one-piece of a votive tablet that portrays three Buddhas on the same tablet.

The design of this votive tablet is heavily influenced by the Mahayana’s doctrine of Trikaya Trinity, which portrays the three bodies of the Buddha—Dharmakaya, Nirmanakaya, and Sambhogakaya.
